PCC Aerostructures Noranco Woodbridge is currently seeing an Operations Manager to join their team

Business Profile:

Noranco is an integrated manufacturer and solutions-provider to the international commercial and military aerospace sectors. Our core products include Aero-Structure, Landing Gear and Aero Engine precision components and complex assemblies.

Our 300+ CNC machine centers and 40 years of experience enable us to offer one-stop shopping for any complex component or sub assembly. Noranco's ownership in two special processing operations ensures access to metal finishing capacity and capabilities such as; shot peen, HVOF, chrome, cad and anodize plating.

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Production team. As the Operations Manager, you will provide leadership to team members and will be responsible for the achievement of key business targets, including: shipping, cost, quality, and EHS.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the integrated day-to-day plant operations, with support from the site General Manager
  • Support to the Production Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders to co-ordinate the flow of materials by: ensuring machine operators are properly trained and work tasks are clearly defined, ensuring tools and equipment are in place as required, and ensuring raw materials are available as needed
  • Review production schedules, determine work force requirements, and monitor production capacity to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Troubleshoot production issues and take appropriate preventive and/or corrective action
  • Lead improvement initiatives resulting in cost and inventory reduction while improving throughput velocity and quality
  • Support Production Supervisors to maintain and execute production schedules to ensure on time delivery
  • Establish KPI’s to drive operational improvement (safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory)
  • Develop long term capital planning strategies to improve performance and support business growth
  • Manage facilities and equipment maintenance program
  • Oversee, and direct, daily plant operations including:
    • Manufacturing, Assembly, and Maintenance
    • Coordination of plant operations and manufacturing activity to attain production goals,
  • Develop and implement operating methods and procedures to improve scheduling and product quality and reduce costs
  • Co-ordinate with Quality Control and Materials Planning to establish daily governance and drive strategic improvement projects
  • Liaise with Production Planners to ensure production goals are attained
  • Responsible for ensure the Health & Safety of all employees and enforce/modify plant policies as required.
  • Recommend changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiencies;
  • Responsible to establish and manage budgets for labour and variable cost and report on a daily basis performance to target
  • Contribute to the positive work environment and develop strong employee relationships with team members and peers

Working Conditions:

Physical

  • Work is performed in a mix of an office environment and manufacturing floor
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Corrected hearing and vision to normal range
  • Use of office equipment including computers, etc.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety shoes, safety goggles, ear plugs, fitted dust mask, etc. as required.

  • Ability to work under deadlines and related stresses in a timely manner
  • Ability to handle various employee and other situations as they arise in a professional manner

RequiredExperience:

  • Five to ten years of manufacturing management experience including supervision;
  • Experience in a job shop environment;

  • Experience in a machining, fabrication and assembly environment

  • ISO 9002 or As 9000 experience

  • Level of Education:

  • Post-secondary degree
