Division OverviewHubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

Responsible for all aspects of the Materials and Operations functions: personnel, safety, cost, productivity, lead times, inventory, and continuous improvement/lean manufacturing and on-time delivery to customers for the assigned operation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe working environment consistent with OSHA and Hubbell Corporate requirements.
  • Support business plan and master planning schedule.
  • Originate and measure key indicators for the assigned operation (safety, quality, delivery, cost).
  • Support on-time delivery schedules.
  • Overall responsibility for Effectivity and Productivity within the production environment
  • Assist in development of cost saving measures through improvement processes (LEAN, KAIZEN, SMED etc).
  • Implementation of strategic programs focused on flow through shop and throughput (i.e. set up reduction)
  • Develop and maintain operating budgets.
  • Forecasting staffing requirements
  • Development inventory goals and implement overall plan for execution of plan; oversight of obsolete and excess inventory.
  • Assure compliance with all local and state environmental regulations.
  • Drive accountability for critical measures of safety, quality, delivery, and production
  • Maintain positive employee relations in a union environment
  • Provide oversight to Production and Materials leadership in order to drive daily objectives and implementation of long term plans
  • Responsibility for OPSD for Civil and Construction Product Lines
  • Identify Capital improvement opportunities, and provide expense justification for AFE’s

Skills and Experience

  • Preferred BS degree in engineering or business, MBA a plus
  • 10-15 years Manufacturing leadership experience including Production/Materials experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • Heavy Duty Manufacturing experience (i.e. Galvanizing/Hot Forge/Welding/Plasma Cutting/Punch Press)
  • Understanding of Operations Metrics and managing to metrics
    1. Ability to influence metrics through planned decision making
  • Experience with forecasting manufacturing needs/manufacturing hours to meet key objectives
  • Ability to understand bottleneck in shop, improve, identify opportunity for improvement and implement plan for change


Bachelors Degree in Engineering General or Other
