The Director provides overall management and operational support for the activities and resources of Diagnostic Imaging.  The Director provides leadership in planning, organizing, staffing and controlling the operational functions related to Diagnostic Imaging Services (may include Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Ultrasound, Interventional, CT/MRI Scanning, etc). The Director ensures optimal provision and coordination of imaging services and resources.  The Director ensures high quality, responsive service level performance and implements various productivity improvements and cost savings components to operations, standardizing processes where appropriate.  The Director ensures coordinated and harmonious working relationships within Diagnostic Imaging Services, with the Diagnostic Imaging Medical Director(s), with other hospital departments, associated medical staff, and the public.  In collaboration with Administration and the Regional Director, the incumbent manages the development and implementation of new profitable lines of business aligned with the Medical Center and the Sutter Health business plan.


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in one or more imaging modalities 
  • Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology program with certification by both the American Registry of Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technologists and the State of CA
  • AART :"or" Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification
  • Demonstrated success in major project coordination, implementation of successful cost containment initiatives and contract negotiations


  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Management or equivalent education/experience in a closely related field is desireable
  • Prior demonstrated successful experience as a Diagnostic Imaging Services Operations Manager and/or Director of an acute care hospital
  • Experience managing non-acute operations
  • Demonstrated ability in healthcare management with excellent experience in personnel management; budget preparations and planning; development & monitoring of staff productivity systems; quality improvement & establishment of quality standards and monitors; & development of other key management control systems.
