This person is responsible for planning, organizing, establishing guidelines and controls, and directing the activities in the operating units in order to manufacture and ship products to customers in a safe, economical, and timely manner. MUST have Continuous Processing experience.Union Envirnment Experience,Refractory Experience(Over 2000 degree F).No Sponsorship.Strong in Safety

  • As a member of the site management team the Operations Manager will also be expected to support site management team initiatives and help drive change.
  • Actively support and enforce the plant's HSSE standards
  • Actively support and promote improving performance standards
  • Manage the operations department to meet or exceed customer demands
  • Manage capital program for the Houston plant
  • Participate on the Houston Management Team and any required Enterprise Teams
  • Lead Houston continuous improvement teams
  • Develop subordinates
  • Support Management Team initiates and help drive change
  • Provide miscellaneous leadership such as PHS, Meetings, etc.
  • Interface with external customers (supply chain, business, customers, and suppliers)

HSE Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all policies, guidelines and standards are practiced and enforced.
  • Superintendent / Supervisor standards
  • Stop Work Policy
  • Achieving HS&E Excellence
  • Zero Tolerance
  • Ensure all RCRA, PHA and RMP requirements are practiced.
  • Site Process Safety Manager for MOC process.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) system requirements.
  • Drive RC14001.
  • Alternate contact for regulatory agencies that visit the plant site.
  • Set new policies for HSE performance.
  • Motivate workers to maintain HSE as their #1 priority.
  • Ensure that each operations department provides training of new department members in the following:
  • Policies and procedures (PPE, operating manuals)
  • Monitoring implementation of HSE activities and follow-up and correction of discrepancies
  • Participation in risk assessment audits (PHA, CTA, JSA, etc.) as applicable.
  • Incident investigations and corrective measures

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Chemical
  • 10 years of experience in an industrial setting within the chemical industry, with 5 years experience in a line management role.
  • Proven process trouble shooting skills.
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Experience in implementing World Class Manufacturing concepts.
  • Working knowledge of sulfuric acid techniques including regeneration and virgin technologies preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with customers and suppliers in a mutually beneficial way.
  • Strong safety attitude and solid understanding of safe work practices. Incumbent should be well versed in all areas of process and occupational safety.
