Mortenson is currently seeking an Operating Group Industrialized Equipment Design Director for our Industrialization Group. You will be responsible for working in partnership with the Vice President of Industrialization, and Director of Industrialized Equipment Operations to form the leadership team for all new equipment, automation and tooling solutions, specifically developing ideas, designs and engineering for all solutions, while driving down cost, improving schedule and reducing injuries across all projects.
What will you be doing as the Operating Group Industrialized Equipment Design Director:
Be responsible for the strategic direction and growth of the Industrialized Engineering team.
Create and execute upon business cases to ensure all safety, quality, schedule, and financial metrics are met.
Lead all research and development of new equipment ideas.
Interact with field operations to understand our work to inform equipment design decisions.
Create concept designs and lead engineering efforts to create fully engineered solutions.
Work with vendors and Director of Industrialized Equipment Operations to create and improve prototypes.
Incorporate automation into equipment designs.
Develop design standards for all equipment.
Develop relationships with design professionals, OEM’s, robotic manufacturer’s, automation providers, and community leaders to expand the operational capability
Manage training and career learning and development programs
Responsible for conducting performance reviews of assigned team members.
Responsible to ensure equipment solutions meet the business case financial, productivity and safety goals.
Participate in industry trade groups
Advance engineering quality, supply chain, VDC, and integration efforts best practices
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline
Minimum of ten years of progressive post-baccalaureate Engineering or group supervision experience with equipment manufacturers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills. Ability to actively influence stakeholders, peers, and leadership.
