OpenStack Private Cloud Engineer
Overview & Responsibilities
We're seeking an OpenStack Private Cloud Engineer (REMOTE) to join our team at Rackspace. This position is a full time REMOTE work from home position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Provide engineering support to customers and engineering team.

Supports and interacts with customers through a combination of ticket and telephone issues.
JOB COMPLEXITY:

Provide engineering support for Customers using OpenStack & Swfit.

Supports and interacts with customers through a combination of ticket and telephone issues.

Troubleshoots OpenStack environments to resolve virtualization related issues.
-
Liaise with internal Rackspace support and development teams.
-
Educates customers and looks for additional opportunities to help improve their environment.

Works with vendors and the OpenStack community to address technical issues.

Due to the 24x7 operations of the business, must be able to work a flexible work schedule, may include nights, weekends, holidays, emergency escalations, etc.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field preferred.

Usually requires 4+ years systems experience, including systems administration in a production Linux environment.

OpenStack Certificate, Linux +, RHCSA preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
-
Advanced knowledge of Linux operating system.

Intermediate level knowledge of: Nova, Glance, Keystone, Cinder, Neutron, Nova-Network, Swift, and Horizon.

Able to implement intermediate level automation tasks using bash or python.

Resolves matters escalated by OpenStack Administrators.

Working knowledge of version control using git and github.

Able to read, interpret, and debug basic Python and Ansible code.

Able to make routine configuration changes via ansible.

Able to plan, QC, and implement routine maintenances.

Contributes to customer and process documentation in the wiki.

Actively seek out guidance and knowledge from more experienced engineers.
