ALASKA OIL & GAS DEPARTMENT MANAGER
Michael Baker's first office in Alaska opened in 1942. Since then, we have played a key role in some of Alaska's most renowned infrastructure projects, including groundbreaking projects on the North Slope and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. We continue to focus on cold regions engineering-pipelines, transportation, hydrology, and geotechnical, and specialty professional services, permitting and regulatory compliance, and GI Sand LiDAR mapping. Michael Baker's Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska offices are filled with professionals dedicated to meeting the most demanding and complex challenges. We have designed and managed projects and programs throughout Alaska for 70 years.
The Oil & Gas Department Manager will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the firm's oil & gas engineering and design practice in Alaska. This leadership position is an integral part of Michael Baker's overall business execution and growth strategy. A key component to this position is the ability to develop and capture new market opportunities and expand existing client relationships.
As part of our Alaska Leadership Team, you will work with Michael Baker's senior Management and staff to:
Manages staff of 10 to 20 professionals, including training, career development and performance reviews.
Lead the Oil & Gas team direction, strategic vision, and culture.
Participate in ongoing strategic positioning for new project opportunities in the state of Alaska and to a lesser extent in Lower 48 States.
Manage client relationships and guide the application of Michael Baker services to best serve the interests of the client and Michael Baker.
Be responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional Michael Baker International staff and office leadership.
Lead, assign and review work of the project delivery team and provide technical guidance and oversight; check work, progress and identify changes of scope and additional services to ensure quality project delivery.
Act as a mentor for less-experienced staff
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or other related Engineering degree.
Minimum 15 years related professional experience.
Minimum 5 years related experience in Alaska's Oil & Gas industry.
Knowledge of regulatory issues.
Demonstrated ability to develop business and establish/maintain relationships with clients.
Must demonstrate excellent speaking, oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, clients and public officials.
Licensed Alaska Professional Engineer
Alaska North Slope project experience
Knowledge of NEPA and the environmental process
Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams
