Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction and underground construction in North America and Canada, is seeking experienced candidates for Office Engineer at our project in Los Angeles, California.

The position is responsible for developing construction method statements, construction drawings detailing construction process, dimensions, locations and materials that meet the contract specification. The position procure products and materials based on Owner's approval. Maintain submittal log to track status of submittals based on contract schedule. Prepare daily progress reports, shifts reports, quality reports, quantity reports, trend sheets and schedule activity updated information. Prepare Requests for Information, Field Change Requests and Non-Conformance Reports as necessary.

The essential functions of the position are:

  • Assist superintendents with site management, quality control, safety, and personnel
  • Prepare work plans including equipment and material procurement
  • Oversee the development of concrete and shotcrete mix designs
  • Order concrete and liaison with concrete dispatcher during concrete placements
  • Witness the field testing of concrete and shotcrete mix designs
  • Develop concrete and shotcrete placement plans
  • Compile concrete placement cards that verifies embedded items and dimensions
  • Manage the activities of subcontractors
  • Compile reports of daily activities
  • Provide and enter quantities for cost reports
  • Review cost reports

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor degree in a civil engineering or mining required
  • Minimum of 5 years of heavy construction experience, preferably in underground construction
  • Must satisfactorily demonstrate that he/she has worked in the field office preparing documents that support general contractor's construction activities
  • Demonstrated logical problem solving skills, including conceptual and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor software
  • Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and database software
  • Support and promote Corporate Health & Safety practices
  • Strong project management skills including abilities in project accountability and cost management
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a team-based environment
  • Ability to work independently, be detail oriented, work under strict deadlines while being organized and maintaining a high level of professionalism
