Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program Director

Job Description

We invite Resumes for the position of Program Director for Doctor of Occupational Therapy program (post-professional and entry-level). 


The Program Director provides leadership for the development and implementation of an OTD program with multiple options. The candidate must be committed to innovative and relevant education for doctoral level OT students.


Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of teaching, scholarship, and service; leading efforts for new program development including all accreditation/approval efforts; curricular design and development for online delivery of didactic courses; developing program policies/procedures and associated handbooks; developing and managing a program budget; recruiting, hiring, and evaluating faculty; providing instruction to students; organizing student advising procedures; organizing faculty workloads and quarterly class schedules; developing and maintaining collaborations withother programs for interprofessional educational opportunities; and representing the Nursing program at the school and institutional levels, as well as in the community at large.



Candidates must evidence the following:

? Evidence earned doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department ofEducation (USDE). The doctoral degree is not limited to a doctorate in occupational therapy, but is preferred.

? Evidence certification as an occupational therapist and ability to meet any Tennessee licensure requirements. 

? Legal authorization to work in the United States. 

? Evidence a minimum of 8years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy. This experience must include: 

o Clinical practice as an occupational therapist;

o Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting;

o Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning); and

o At least 3years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-baccalaureate level.

? Excellent organizational and communication skills. 

? In-depth knowledge of ACOTE regulations preferred.
