Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete assignments from Safety and Training Programs milestones, as assigned
  • Conduct weekly AED checks and document status in assigned log
  • Set up annual CPR training for staff and track the current status of CPR certifications
  • Ensure all safety compliance forms are current (e.g. lift truck checks, fire inspection, etc.)
  • Update staff Safety Bulletin Board monthly
  • Conduct thorough incident/near-miss investigations and report findings to Accident Review Committee
  • Participate in review of incident data and prepare staff Safety Alerts as directed
  • Complete preparations for monthly Safety Committee Meeting and record minutes
  • Conduct research related to accident prevention, training development, etc. as assigned
  • Prepare detailed, comprehensive training manuals and programs as assigned
  • Conduct staff trainings as assigned (e.g. Lift Truck Safe Operation, Respirator Fit Test, etc.)
  • Conduct new employee Safety Orientation as assigned (provide PPE and orientation forms)
  • Monitor staffs? safe practices compliance and address non-compliance
  • Participate in annual development of department milestones
  • Interact with outside inspectors, auditors, etc. as requested
  • Attendance, arrival for shift, and preparedness to perform job requirements
  • Contributes to the cleanliness of the overall workplace and company grounds
  • Complies with company safety requirements at all times
  • Wears all appropriate and company-approved Personal Protection Equipment consistently
  • Demonstrates awareness of surroundings at all times when traveling through workplace
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and competency in emergency procedures relating to the department
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Performs tasks with attention to detail
  • Reads a tape measure accurately
  • Communicates effectively; able to speak, read, and write English
  • Communicate issues, concerns, and/or conflict clearly and respectfully through proper channels
  • Conducts all assignments as delegated by the Supervisor or designee within assigned timeframes
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet company needs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required; College degreepreferred
  • 2+ years of related training/experience in occupational safety and health
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred
  • Proficient in computer use and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Lift truck operatorexperience
  • Skilled in public speaking and interacting with diverse groups
  • Attention to detail as supported by work experience
  • Simultaneously balances several tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrate competency in assigned in-service training
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently
  • Effective use of time supported by work experience

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Special vision requirements include the ability of the employee to have clear vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more. The employee must have good peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to bring objects into sharp focus.
