About the role

We are looking for an Occupational Physician to provide technical occupational health advice and support to enable asset teams to effectively manage critical health risks. The role involves ensuring alignment with the Group Health Strategy, maintaining focus on priority projects and supporting effective implementation by the assets

Reporting to the Manager – Health & Hygiene, this role is an excellent opportunity to:

  • Be a technical expert and support for site physicians – Americas, Europe & Africa including determination of fitness for work in complex cases, interpretation of complex results
  • Provide Medical support to sites for major or technically challenging health incidents and issues and for complex occupational and non-occupational disability management
  • Maintain & develop medical expertise within the regional network
  • Participate/lead in Health reviews and audits
  • Identify efficiencies and drive standardisation across medical services and provide quality assurance to site clinics
  • Analyse trends and collaborate with IH technical expert to ensure global health approach
  • Offer strategic functional direction in collaboration with Regional Delivery team and in line with Group strategy
  • Develop and support deployment of specific health initiatives according to work prioritisation
  • Support medical alignment with Industrial Hygiene, Safety and Regional Delivery team as well as with counterparts in Perth/Brisbane hub
  • Ensure regional regulatory watch including participation in regional and international forums

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Occupational Medicine (preferred) or Preventive Medicine and Public Health
  • At least 5 years of direct occupational health care experience (clinic and programme development/deployment)
  • Strong occupational health, team leadership, and organisational skills
  • Experience in mining or similar heavy industry is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA classification, HS Systems, standards and key risk management and assurance processes
  • Critical thinking, team-orientation, cross-disciplinary/interdepartmental collaboration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Written and oral fluency in both English and French will be a definite asset.
