Description: Oversees the quality, service & cost-effectiveness of care delivered in a patient care unit(s) in collaboration & partnership w/ physicians & the MD chief. Supervises & coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in providing nursing care & related medical services. Accountable for creating a culture of commitment, innovation, compliance, ethics & integrity. Maintains knowledge of & assures departmental compliance w/ KP-s Principles of Responsibility & policies & procedures, & applicable regulatory requirements & accreditation standards. Responds appropriately to observed fraud or abuse.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises, leads, role models & coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in providing nursing care & related medical services, for a specific patient care unit(s), by integrating effective nursing practices & innovation
  • Interviews, selects, evaluates, motivates, orients, trains, coaches\counsels, disciplines & terminates unit personnel in compliance w/ EEO/AA goals & personnel policies of the organization
  • Continually improves service, staff productivity, & quality
  • Identifies & investigates competency problems associated w/ daily operations & overall patient care within the unit(s) & develops & administers corrective measures to ensure safe & efficient working conditions
  • Acts as a liaison between the patient care unit & the call center to ensure effective communication for overall patient care services
  • Collaborates w/ other facility leaders to design systems for providing high quality patient care services
  • Ensures nursing standards & clinical nursing practice within the department to meet and/or exceed appropriate licensing/accrediting agency standards
  • Coordinates & adheres to budgetary needs for operation of the unit
  • Monitors quality assurance projects
  • Maintain current information & knowledge of all applicable Kaiser policies, local, state & federal laws & regulations, & accreditation standards
  • Ensures that the training activities incorporate all applicable KP policies, local, state & federal laws & regulations, & accreditation standards
  • Position requires working w/ interruptions, occasionally working w/ bio-hazardous waste, & working around machinery & moving equipment, such as wheel chairs
  • Standard medical office environment
  • May be required to lift patients using proper lifting technique
  • In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the KP Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives
  • Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3 years of nursing leadership experience required
  • Must be a graduate of an RN program that meets Colorado State Board of Nursing curriculum requirements
  • bachelor's degree required
  • Licensed as a RN in the State of Colorado
  • Strong written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills required

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 year of experience in specialty area preferred
  • Highly prefer bachelor-s degree in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) strongly preferred
