SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPURPOSE OF POSITION
1. Take comprehensive health history.
2. Perform physical exam and mental status evaluation.
3. May perform pelvic examinations on female patients when indicated.
4. Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic illness based on knowledge and clinical guidelines and in collaboration with the attending physician.
5. Order, review and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
6. Obtain and/or refer for appropriate consultations.
7. Provide counseling.
8. Provides patient and family education.
9. Plan and order disease prevention and health promotion strategies and testing.
10. Perform minor procedures and diagnostic testing, if privileges granted.
11. Perform more advanced procedures provided there is documentation of both appropriate training and competency.
12. Ongoing medical documentation in the medical record.
13. Participates in Departmental Performance Improvement Activities, including peer review.
14. Obtain collateral information and refer to appropriate health and service agencies.
15. Could perform duties as assigned in Primary Care per departmental designation or need.
16. Participate in ongoing professional development in their department and area of work.
17. Maintain accurate medical records as specified by clinical departmental leadership
Minimum Qualifications1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and
2. Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the NYSED; and
3. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).

An annual education differential if you currently possess an appropriate degree in nursing or an allied health discipline from an accredited college or university, as listed below:
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Bachelors in allied health discipline = $900
- Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Masters in allied health discipline = $1,200
- Doctorate in Education, Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing (DNP) = $2,500
An annual certification differential of $1,878 if you currently hold an appropriate certification that is nationally recognized in the discipline or area of specialization for which you are employed.
An annual nursing experience differential ranging from $1,097 up to $9,100 for up to 10 years of experience if you have outside nursing experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
For NP (PC/BH) ONLY: An annual assignment differential ranging from $10,000 up to $25,000 if assigned to a Behavioral Health department
AND regularly working evenings/nights
