Nurse Practitioner / Clinic Manager Medical Oncology
Job Details: Collects data on the patient's physical, psychological and social status related to the presenting complaint and health history; Confers with the Physician and/or follows approved protocols in the management of patient care. Orders appropriate medications, laboratory tests, x-rays, EKG's and other diagnostic and treatment procedures. Manages continuing treatment modalities by regulating and adjusting medications/treatments according to reassessments of the patient's condition in collaboration with physician. Responsible for walk-in patients who need emergent care; addresses side effects and reactions from chemotherapy treatment. Perform high risk procedures as directed by physician. Genetic Counseling Clinic – full management responsibility of clinic and Genetics Counselor to include chart review and approval; communicate to patients of genetic testing results and recommendations for follow up; communicate to referring physicians Implementation of High Risk Breast Cancer Clinic, full management responsibility of clinic to include written protocols and guidelines; recommendations for follow up and communication to specialist as needed. High Risk Cancer Clinic: provides a service to patients who have a higher than average risk for cancer. The clinic provides risk assessment, history and physical examination, ordering of screening/diagnostic tests as indicated, recommendations for prevention and risk reduction, patient education, genetic testing and counseling, and referral for additional services as indicated. Follow-up provided as needed. Patient Survivorship Clinic Provider will establish written protocols for patients to follow upon completion of treatment regimen following national guidelines. Establish a written communication tool for patients to follow which is diagnosis driven Provider will be responsible for community and staff education for new drugs and protocols as directed by governing agencies and insurance carriers. Masters of Science, Nursing Min. 5 years Medical Oncology Experience as NP. Must have Advanced Oncology Nursing Practitioner Certification. BLS certification required.
