Job Description

Nurse Manager Telemetry Unit – Patient Care Services (Sisters of Charity Hospital – St. Joseph Campus)
The Nurse Manager for the Telemetry Unit at Sisters Hospital-St. Joseph Campus holds 24 hour accountability for management of clinical nursing practice, patient care delivery, the management of human, fiscal and other resources including facilitating collegial relationships between the interdisciplinary teams. The Nurse Manager abides by the mission and values of Catholic Health. The Nurse Manager supports, plans, implements and evaluates the provision of care and outcome management for the designated patient populations. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the development of personnel, compliance with regulatory and professional standards and strategic planning.


• Director of Emergency/Critical Care Nursing

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Registered nurses, Monitor Techs, Patient Care Attendants, and Unit Clerks in the Telemetry Unit.



• Graduate of accredited professional nursing program.

• Current RN licensure in State of New York

• Baccalaureate in nursing required

• Masters in nursing preferred.

• Current BLS and ACLS certification

• Area specific national certification within 1 year


• Three (3) or more years of clinical nursing experience/charge nurse experience required

• Leadership/management experience preferred


• Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all levels of unit personnel, as well as physicians, families, visitors, and to manage the activities of a diverse group of professional, nonprofessional, and clerical employees.

• Possesses active listening skills.

• Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvements as well as positive problem resolution. Maintains deadlines for coordination of data collection.

• Teaching abilities to promote optimum orientation and continuing education to staff.

• Has current knowledge of health care trends and issues and relates same to hospital and work area environment.

• Occasional prolonged standing, walking, and sitting.

• Computer literate.
