Riverside Walter Reed Hospital located in Gloucester, VA is seeking a Nurse Manager of Surgical Services.

 Job Summary: Responsible for integration of the nursing process to include, coordination/management of patient care and the organizing, planning, directing, and evaluating of Services provided with a core focus on Facility and associated departments. Provides leadership, direction and mentorship/support to the staffing needs for the designated specialty area(s). As a Clinical Expert, ensures the provision of clinically competent services by validating staff competency in the provision of a comprehensive range of services/care in accordance with standards of excellence, age-specific and cultural sensitivity established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. Performs other duties as assigned.

 Additional Information: Responsible for approximately 35 employees, 3 ORs and 2 procedure/GI lab rooms. 200-240 OR cases per month and approximately 170-300 GI procedures per month. Riverside Walter Reed Hospital's OR is currently undergoing a significant expansion and renovation. It will consist of a new two story, 54,000 sq-ft surgical center with 4 new ORs, 2 procedure rooms, a pharmacy, and new pre/post care areas. This closely knit OR team has great longevity with employees and experience and low turnover. Staff is cross-trained to GI lab, Pre, Post, and CSR.  

 Education: BSN or higher required or willing to enroll in program within 6months and complete BSN within 5years.

Certifications/Licensure: Licensed or eligible by the state of Virginia as an RNrequired. Specialty certifications such as CNOR, CASC, CCRNpreferred. ACLS certification required within 6months.

 Experience: Progressive leadership experience which provided opportunities to develop skills in nursing practice if applies, and/or in application of administrative principles. Concentrated experience in surgical services. Knowledge of regulations, policies, procedures, accreditation standards required. Knowledge of personnel administration, economics, and legislation.
