We are seeking a Nurse Manager with at least 5 years of NICU/SCN experience, as well as leadership experience. The most qualified candidate will possess a Masters Degree in addition to a BSN, and will be able to demonstrate a track record of positive leadership.
The Nurse Manager maintains 24-hour accountability for the clinical and management functions, as well as monitoring and evaluation activities pertinent to the operation of the department. Emphasis is on the supervision of the staff who are providing direct patient care through the nursing process. Care is rendered to age-appropriate populations on each patient care unit. He/She is responsible for maintaining established standards, managing and coordinating the care and services provided by ancillary and other professional personnel. This position is responsible for maintaining ongoing collaborative and collegial relationships withMedical Staff, clinical and support departments. The Nurse Manager demonstrates clinical skill and competence as necessary.
The Special Care Nursery (SCN) is a twelve-bed level IIB unit that provides care for high risk newborns who were born prematurely or with medical complications. Patients in the SCN include both infants born at Beverly Hospital and transfers in following treatment at tertiary care facilities. The SCN Registered Nurses and Board Certified Neonatologists provide care for infants 32 weeks gestation or greater who require the following clinical care: frequent observation; cardiorespiratory monitoring; oxygen therapy; intravenous hydration and medications; gavage feedings blood transfusions and/or exchange transfusions. As a Level IIB nursery, the SCN can care for infants who require respiratory support including Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP). Special procedures include lumbar puncture, umbilical vessel catheterization, endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, chest tube insertion, and emergency resuscitation. Infants requiring intubation and mechanical ventilation, emergent neonatal surgery, or pediatric subspecialty consultation not available at Beverly Hospital are transferred to a tertiary care center after stabilization.
