Job Description:

JFK North’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services (BHS) offers comprehensive services to assess and treat the psychiatric needs of children, adolescents, adults and seniors. Reporting to the Service Line Director, the Nurse Director manages the daily clinical operations for the BHS department which encompasses:

  • The Pavilion, an 88-bed inpatient unit adjacent to the hospital, is the largest licensed Baker Act receiving facility that accepts children in Palm Beach County
  • A 32-medical psych unit in the hospital
  • Services include:
  • Therapy: individual, group, and family
  • Medication Management
  • Aftercare
  • Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
  • Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (AIOP)
  • A planned 36-bed expansion in the hospital (anticipated completion 2020)

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct daily operations of The Pavilion and the hospital inpatient medical psych unit to achieve quality improvement, fiscal/productivity goals and patient satisfaction
  • Develop procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of the programs’ treatment process to assure the programs’ goals and objectives and patient needs are being met
  • Supervise more than 120 staff including two Nurse Managers
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable quality standards as well as federal, state and local licensure requirements, codes and regulations
  • Communicate programs/services to the general public, staff members, other professionals, and families of patients
  • Oversee the assessment of patients for admission into programs ensuring these services and admission processes operate with a high level of efficiency on a 24/7 basis
  • Integrate Department’s services with the Hospital’s primary function, and facilitate collaborative and positive working relations between staff/physicians and all other non-psychiatric services

Qualifications:

  • Current FL RN license or
  • Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MSN preferred in Mental Health Nursing, Psych Nursing or equivalent
  • BLS required, CPI within 3 months of hire
  • Greater than 5 years clinical experience with acute inpatient Behavioral Health Services
  • Minimum 3 years Director level experience in acute BHS inpatient environment
  • Experience with pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric MH/BHS patients
