ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The NOC Engineer II will configure and provision Core, Distribution, and Access routers, switches and other associated peripheral equipment for network implementation. H/S will remotely assist with field installation and communication deployments as necessary. They will work Network Enhancement Projects with PMO teams to improve network reliability and to ensure NOC/Operations support new products. They will identify, diagnose and resolve problems affecting network performance that have been escalated and unresolved within the NOC teams. They will provide technical and analytical support in determining the root cause of network problems and implement action plans to resolve potential or active Network impacting issues. They will work trouble tickets to find solutions in order to correct customer/network trouble issues and faults. They will configure MPLS router connections for customer turn-ups. They will configure and provision routers, switches and other associated peripheral equipment for customer networks. They will perform remote turn-ups of services with operations, vendors and customers.
The successful candidate will have the ability to move/add/change/delete circuits in Digital Cross Connect Systems and MUX systems using TL1. They will have experience with TDM, SONET, Optical fiber, CWDM/DWDM. They will have experience with OTN, ROADM, SONET, cross connect provisioning and signal grooming. They will have experience with BTI, CISCO, CIENA and Infinera Transport. They will have the ability to perform software and hardware upgrades as necessary in all TDM, SONET and DWDM systems throughout the Segra footprint.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 3-5 years professional level experience; or 6+ years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or and equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience.
They will also have 6+ years troubleshooting higher level Network Hardware and provisioning . 6+ years in network operations environment. Must have the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as needed in a fast-paced working environment, especially when dealing with time-sensitive issues and mandated deadlines.
