The Embedded Firmware Engineer will be based in Fremont, CA. He/she will be part of the embedded team to develop the controllers for our tracker and energy storage products. Those controllers are highly reliable with life expectancy of 25 years under harsh outdoor environment, and we strive to use the best possible components and technologies. Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

  • Design, implement and maintain control algorithms for our tracker controller and energy storage products
  • Design, implement and maintain advanced solar tracking algorithm to improve production yields
  • Collaborate with the hardware and software teams and support their missions
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to field test firmware and investigate issues

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in EECS or related engineering field
  • 5 years of hands-on software development experience
  • Fluent in the C programming language
  • Experience working in embedded systems

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development preferably in ARM cortex
  • Strong in C programming language and libraries with or without an operating system
  • Experience with embedded development toolchains and development environment
  • In-depth understanding of embedded programming concepts and techniques such as DMA, interrupt, preemption, state machine, systick, OTA, bootloader, stack and heap.
  • Experience with hardware peripherals such as GPIO, UART, Timer, watchdog, ADC/DAC, I2C, SSI/SPI, Crypto acceleration and Ethernet.
  • Hardware/software integration from a software standpoint
  • Familiar with hardware/software debugging tools such as multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer and Wireshark.
  • Familiar with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485, Modbus and Ethernet
  • Experience with version control and issue tracking systems
  • Knowledge of embedded Linux and application development
  • Experience in motor control and/or power electronics a big plus
  • Strong documentation, analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work well independently and in a team environment
