About the Role:
As part of the North America Food Preparation Quality team, the NPI Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that new products are designed, developed, and launched with best-in-class quality.
This role leads the development and execution of product quality plans throughout the full product lifecycle—from concept through production launch and into field performance. The NPI Quality Engineer partners closely with Product Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to proactively identify risks, implement preventive measures, and ensure products meet both consumer expectations and performance standards.
You will play a critical role in embedding quality into product design, enabling successful launches, and driving continuous improvement across engineering and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive product quality plans to support the product development lifecycle
Lead Design and Process FMEAs and actively participate in design reviews to identify and mitigate risks early
Create and maintain control plans and validate process flow diagrams to ensure manufacturing readiness
Translate Voice of the Consumer (VoC) insights into product requirements and critical quality characteristics
Apply Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies to ensure robust product and process design
Leverage learnings from prior projects to proactively implement risk mitigation strategies
Ensure product designs align with manufacturing capabilities; drive process improvements or equipment upgrades as needed
Lead investigations into customer quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, fishbone, FRACAS)
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure product performance, quality standards, and launch timing are achieved
Review and validate APQP/PPAP documentation to ensure design intent is maintained throughout development
Drive continuous improvement of APQP processes and quality systems
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
5+ years of experience in a quality engineering role within a structured quality system (ISO 9001, TS/IATF 16949, or equivalent)
Strong experience with APQP/PPAP tools and methodologies, including:
FMEA (Design & Process)
Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams
Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, Interface Analysis
Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
FRACAS and root cause analysis tools (e.g., Fishbone)
Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and requirements management
Experience in reliability engineering concepts and product validation techniques
Six Sigma certification or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product development lifecycle
Knowledge of product components, functionality, and failure modes is a plus
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills
Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional and matrixed organizations
Willingness to travel – 10%
