About the role

Zillow is looking for a New Market Manager who will own the launching of new and future Zillow Offers™ markets. You will be responsible for the initial launch of expanding markets by working in a collaborative, cross functional fashion with teams in our Phoenix and Seattle Headquarters. Your focus will be on the development and growth of the new market operations team including assisting in identifying the General Manager in order to establish a successful physical presence. This will include building early vendor partnerships, quickly understanding the market by creating relationships with industry players, assist in identifying and securing office space, oversee local hiring and onboarding. Think of yourself as the sole driver of laying the foundation by instilling Zillow core values, hiring local team, stabilizing the market through on-site training, and be ready to move onto launching the next city.

This is a job for a super-organized, considerate, adventurous traveling manager who wants to bring a product to new places that home-sellers and buyers will love.

  • Synthesize data from multiple sources to effectively educate teams on business needs.
  • Diagnose and manage the launch of the local staff, operational org chart and office space.
  • Work collaboratively alongside the General Manager until market is successfully stabilized.
  • Successfully execute the New Market playbook and suggest feedback for future markets.

Who you are

Who you are:

  • 4-5 year’s experience in strategic operations, real estate or construction project management
  • Min. Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proven ability to create and implement business operational systems utilizing key business drivers and technology.
  • Experience with people management including onboarding, hiring and training new employees.
  • Experience opening new markets for a real-world business with local staff and physical assets.
  • Passion for helping things work better and people go farther.
  • The ability and willingness to travel 75% of the time, travel to new cities throughout the year, and make your Launch Team and New Markets associates your new family on the road.
  • Natural ability to connect with others while gaining the respect to lead seasoned industry professionals.
  • Have experience scaling businesses from inception or early on in a business lifecycle.
  • Superior problem-solving skills, an ability to think outside the box, synthesizing complex projects and independently translating high-level goals into actionable plans with imperfect data.
