SCOPE/PURPOSE OF POSITION:
- Develop, configure and support wireless network devices and solutions to align with Corning’s technology standards and meet the connectivity needs of our businesses.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as wireless network subject matter expert, providing technical expertise, design skills, and expert operational support
- Develop, test, implement, document and support wireless data network solutions including:
- Providing technical requirements as part of overall network solutions design and development effort
- Creating, reviewing and/or vetting technical functional specifications and low-level network solutions design documentation, ensuring those are complete, correct and kept current
- Assisting with implementation of new solutions, or upgrades to existing solutions, including communications, preparation of documentation and training
- Maintaining and administering networks and related computing environments including software, hardware, and tools
- Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
- Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.
- Participating in root cause analysis on incidents, helping to drive identification of preventative actions meant to ensure problems don’t recur, and delivering on the tasks within those actions
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- 4-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 7+ years of experience analyzing requirements for, designing, delivering and supporting wired/wireless/data network functions/tools/processes in a large enterprise environment.
- 5+ years of experience supporting large, complex wireless networks, including work with wireless controllers, access points, wireless security functions, and performing/analyzing wireless surveys
- Experience working in both manufacturing and office environments
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must have deep current experience in network infrastructure and network hardware including several of the following – Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, and other wireless technology providers
- Deep understanding of communication networks, wireless technology, and embedded systems.
- Experience with development and testing of RF and wireless communication systems.
- Extensive knowledge of wireless standards and protocols.
- Must have excellent technical analysis, problem solving, and business relationship skills.
- Must have good grasp on contemporary and emerging technologies/strategies and the application to enterprise.
- Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
- Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers.
- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
- Understanding of pertinent frameworks, including ITIL, NIST and COBIT
- Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization
- Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Demonstrated track record of on time delivery within budget; ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools
- Successfully navigate within teams across multiple initiatives, spanning various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures
- Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others
- Must be willing to be on call available for after-hours support and an on-call rotation as defined by the team for any of the position responsibilities listed above.
DESIRED SKILLS
- Experience with Cisco Prime, NNMI, HPNA, SolarWinds, Aruba, Mist
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) certification, required.
- Knowledge of traffic analysis and performance, and network capacity/tools experience
