POSITION SUMMARY:

This key position is responsible for supporting the organization’s LAN/WAN and server domain components: monitoring, managing and trouble-shooting the network infrastructure of routers, switches, firewall appliances, Citrix Gateway/Netscaler and DNS/SPF/MX records. This individual leads technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the technology infrastructure operations organization. Additional responsibilities include server networking, server virtualization and distributed virtual switching, operating Active Directory domains, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity testing, and backup/restore of electronic data. The position requires strong communication and presentation skills and a well-developed technical aptitude.



This individual is accountable for the following systems: Switching/Routing, LAN/WAN, Firewall, Networking Protocol and Project/Support Requests as assigned by the Infrastructure Manager.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Network Infrastructure Engineering

Self-starter with an organized mindset.
Experience with the operations of a wide spectrum of hardware.
Experience in providing customer support of a variety of physical and virtual devices.
Skilled in troubleshooting and engineering of network infrastructure and Cisco/Citrix operating systems
Install new / rebuild existing switches, routers and firewall devices and configure wireless infrastructure, including Cisco ISE in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Contribute to and maintain system documentation
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.


Operations and Support:

Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all network hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
Provide Tier 2/3 and other support per request from various end users
Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures/Coordinate and communicate with impacted stakeholders

Maintenance:

Apply Cisco iOS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

Position owns a variety of production services and provides direction to others. The question/issues are typically clear and requires determination of which answer (from a few choices) is the best.

Must maintain positive attitude when working with IT team, other colleagues, and customers.
Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues.
Provides occasional guidance, some of which is technical.


SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, TRAINING OR SPECIAL LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB:
(Looking for individuals with SME experience with at least 2 or more technologies listed below)

Functional Knowledge of Cisco Route/Switch/Firewall/ISE/Prime as well as LAN/WAN analysis and troubleshooting
Working knowledge of network technologies and services: DHCP, DNS, VPN, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Wireless Access Points.
Working knowledge of VMware and Citrix Virtualization technologies.
Working knowledge of VOIP systems.
Strong knowledge of Server Hardware Capabilities
Working knowledge of server and network hardware: HP Servers, iLo, Cisco/HP Network hardware, Cat6, Cat5e, Fiber Cabling.
Experience supporting a 1000+ user environment across multiple locations
Desired Certifications: CCNA, VCP, MCSE.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Education

Minimum: BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience

Preferred: Graduate coursework in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or, Information Systems



Experience

Minimum: 5+ years hands on Systems/Network Administration experience in building and monitoring production IT environment

Preferred: 10+ years hands on Systems/Network Administration experience in building and monitoring production IT environment
