Position Description

The IT Analyst is required to design, build, optimize, deploy and maintain the network monitoring and DNS/DHCP/IP management infrastructure for Duke Health. This position will provide day to day support of multiple network monitoring and management solutions critical to quality service delivery and operational support.

This network monitoring and management infrastructure provide fault identification and isolation, configuration management, network analysis and network performance reporting to ensure the health and reliability of the DHTS network. This position will be responsible for providing and maintaining systems that monitor, analyze and support the Duke Health network infrastructure which consists of data center, routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, VoIP, etc.

Work Performed


Will be responsible for the analysis, planning, design, evaluation, implementation and administration of complex systems for network management and service level management related to network infrastructure while ensuring compliance to DHTS and industry standards, best practices, policies, and governances. Specific duties may include

  • Gathering and defining requirements
  • Aiding in the design of monitoring and management solutions
  • Evaluate technologies based on requirements and for compatibility with existing resources and solutions
  • Implementation of solution build-out with pre-deployment testing
  • Day to day administration of a solution
  • Providing capacity planning and scaling of solution based on business requirements
  • Anticipates trends, events, and consequences of changes in the DHTS environment by developing recommendations to management
  • Risk analysis and management of solutions and components
  • Training and knowledge transfer
  • Documenting implemented solution and best practices
  • Project Management

Will provide technical leadership in regards to operational support for resolution of system problems and for implementation of moves, adds and changes to network management, log file management, and service level management systems supporting Duke Medicine. Duties may include:

  • Customer support through incident resolution or request fulfillment
  • Report Generation for to customers, peers or management
  • Analyzes system problems to determine proper solution and implements approved solutions
  • Implement work processes and procedures to ensure a quick and effective resolution to technical problems
  • Risk assessment and mitigation to include vulnerability and patch management
  • Change Management
  • Problem Management
  • Knowledge Management

Required Qualifications at this Level


Bachelor's degree in a related field, or five years of equivalent technical experience required.


ITILv3 Foundation Certification preferred


Three years of related experience is required.
