At Getronics, as the Network Engineer, you will report to the IT Manager/Director and is responsible for supporting the LAN/WAN networkinfrastructure located at all Getronics locations. The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting and managing primarily Cisco branded routers, switches, firewalls, wireless and telecommunications infrastructure. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Perform a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Cisco and Fortinet network equipment
  • Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure
  • Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices, which will require continuous learning of new devices (i.e. Cisco switches, Cisco ASA, and Fortinet)
  • Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA's
  • Collect and review networkutilization data for capacity and planning purposes
  • Assist in developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans
  • Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all IT infrastructures
  • Manage & troubleshoot network and Internet connectivity throughout the organization
  • Work closely with the fellow tech team members to provide end-user support and issue resolution
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging tools and technologies
  • Research, evaluate and recommend technologies to support business requirements
  • Create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings
  • Maintain relationships with 3rd party technical support providers
  • Provide emergency 24 x 7 on-callsupport on a rotating basis


What you need to succeed at Getronics:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • CCNA Routing and switching level knowledge
  • 3+ years of related experience in a networkinfrastructure environment, with some experience in network planning, design and implementation of LANs/WANs using the latest technology
  • Experience with Cisco routers, switches, ASA firewalls and wireless environments
  • Excellent L2/L3 troubleshooting capabilities * Knowledge with: VLANs, FHRP, TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IPSec VPN, & NAT
  • Experience in network monitoring, troubleshooting and analyzing packet captures
  • Willingness to work beyond core business hours, if necessary, to minimized business interruption during planned or unplanned security system modifications
  • Possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to identify user requirements and aid in problem resolution with supervision; good customer service and communications skills
  • Good judgment and analytical skills; as well as follow-up and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required

It'd be great if you also have:

  • IPS/FW experience with enterprise class solutions such as Cisco Firepower, Checkpoint IPS and Palo Alto threat prevention
  • Network experience with Cisco layer 3 switches (3750, 4500, 6500 and Nexus 7000, 5000, 2000 series); understanding of ACI Fabric
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with designing and implementing technical security solutions with CASB products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and partnering skills
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering business requirements on time and within budget
  • Self-motivated work style; able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment
