Working as part of the Network Infrastructure Team, the candidate will provide support for a Department of Defense Agency’s worldwide telecommunications infrastructure. Candidate will support the Agency’s Life Cycle Management program and provide rapid recovery of the Agency’s Enterprise network, while receiving work direction from the Life Cycle Maintenance Task Manger (LCMTM). Operates under the supervision of the LCMTM or designee. When required, lead a two-man team to visit Commissaries, Central Distribution Centers (CDCs), Warehouses, and/or Regional Offices each year, as identified by the Agency. Perform site surveys to include communications cabinets, voice/data cable drops, LAN requirements, and wireless coverage. Troubleshoot network/user outages as assigned and/or escalate as needed to resolve. Update and resolve both Remedy tickets and Shift Log entries. Responsible for creating/maintaining network documentation, Trip Reports, Technical Drawings, and Network Diagrams, following approved templates. Open trouble tickets when problem requires support from outside the location of the problem. Configure, install, and replace GFE network components including network switches, wireless access points, network routers. Provide Cable Plant support services as needed. Performs IOS Upgrades for multiple network devices. Provides and coordinates end-user support during deployments. Complete wireless surveys of interior and exterior of government buildings.
Required: Candidate must possess a Cisco CCNA certification, as well as be compliant with DoD Directive 8570.1 IAT Level 2: (Security+ CE, GSEC, SSCP or CCNA-Security). Bachelor’s degree in related field or (the equivalent work experience) with a minimum of 3 years of Network related experience. Candidate must have 3 to 5 years of experience that includes operational support, hands-on implementing and configuration of CISCO network devices such as routers, switches, access points, UPSs, desktop computers, and cabling in a large LAN/BAN/MAN/WAN environment. Familiarity with Network Monitoring/Administrator tools (Cisco Works/Prime Infrastructure). Inside cable plant experience with CAT5/6, and multi pair cable installation and termination. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders.
Desired: DoD experience preferred.
