Test and validate Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and back-end systems that affect CPE. Serve as subject matter expert for team on testing, DOCSIS cable modem provisioning, Multiple System Operator and Internet Service Providers provisioning. Execute escalations from the field, and create and maintain related documentation. Work on DOCSIS or DSL and cable modem provisioning using TR-069, SNMP and others. Utilize CPE, DSLAM and/or CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System). Working with Quality Assurance processes and testing methodologies and tools including JIRA, JAMA or HP-ALM and Confluence Review firmware requirements and provide feedback. Identify hardware and software testing requirements along with team members and engineering groups. Participate in weekly bug classification and prioritization and test plan creation. Establish test network environments as documented in test plans. Perform system-wide end-to-end integration and regression testing. Document results and review with designated teams or vendors. Resolve issues discovered during testing; develop and document work arounds. Implement and escalate issues with operations team. Participate in Operational handoff review activities. Test and implement IP routing, IP multicast, streaming video, wireless, VoIP networking; automation, databases, scripting and system administration. Manage onsite vendor resources and mentor junior engineers.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field and five (5) years of network engineering experience with cable Multiple System Operator and Internet Service Providers. Five years of experience must include: (i) working with Quality Assurance processes and testing methodologies and tools including JIRA and Confluence; (ii) CPE and DSLAM or CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System); (iii) IP routing, IP multicast, streaming video, and wireless; (iv) automation, databases, scripting and system administration; and (v) DOCSIS or DSL and cable modem provisioning using TR-069; and 2 years of experience with VoIP networking. 10% domestic travel.
