The Sr Network Engineer designs, promotes, and supports network technologies for routing, switching, data connectivity, and access methods. The Sr Network Engineer provides solutions to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of the data networks that are critical to the end user experience. In addition to data network infrastructure design and implementation activities, this individual is tasked withtroubleshooting network issues and providing root cause analysis. Leveraging strong communication skills, individual manages escalation of network issues and inquiries, provides timely and actionable project status information, and works collaboratively with all teams within a shared services organization framework.
Responsibilities include effective planning, design, installation, and maintenance of all Cisco Routing and Switching products as well as Check Point firewalls within the PCC infrastructure.
Staying current with Industry trends. -- Wireless, Routing, Switching, BYOD, DataCenter best practices, firewalls, & Cloud computing.
Making recommendations or offering new approaches to new Networking gear as it effects PCC infrastructure.
Configuration of Cisco routing and switching gear at the design and architecture level.
Produces monthly capacity reports of the current infrastructure to provide future planning on needed infrastructures.
Assists Network Director with reports and other misc. tasks as required.
Research, Design, Implementation
Analyze needs and identify ways of improving Networking services to the enterprise.
Execute upgrades to the Network hardware and software infrastructure.
Provide support for the newly deployed Avaya environment. Be familiar with Cisco Computing platform.
Total understand of how remote users, using VoIP phones, communicate back to a central site.
Total understanding of VPN technologies, Wide Area Acceleration, (Riverbed) Load Balancers (F5) and Firewalls (Check Point).
Provide the mentorship to other network engineers. Must have the ability to show team members the best practice on how to configure and deploy equipment. Be comfortable explaining technology to various skill levels in low and high pressure situations.
Provide project leadership for assigned projects. Prepare detailed project plans. Provide high quality deliverables on time and within budget.
Take part in a week of once a month on call rotation.
Implement and maintain Cisco networking environments in accordance with security and compliance policies and procedures.
Configure the following Network gear. Cisco ASR, Cisco ASA, Cisco ACS, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Cisco Nexus, Riverbed, Check Point Firewalls, FortiNAC Network Access Controller. Develop, implement and support high-availability and disaster recovery strategies for the Networking infrastructure.
Proactively monitor and manage the Networking infrastructure to ensure secure services with optimal availability. Working knowledge of Solarwinds network monitoring tool.
Responsible for improvement and design of the Networking infrastructure and VoIP related infrastructure.
Be able to provide Automation of Networking administrative monitoring, alerting and maintenance tasks.
Troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems relating to BGP, OSPF configurations, WAN performance issues, application performance problems due tonetwork constraints.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. Eight or more years' experience withthe design and implementation of complex network systems in a Cisco and Check Point environment.
