Job Responsibilities


With demonstrated capability in Satellite communications, and antennas, Viasat is able to provide state-of-the-art communications systems for both commercial and government customers. You will be able to use your systems engineering expertise to build the next generation of advanced antenna products and satellite communications terminals.

As an expert in your field, you will contribute to the overall success of complex programs by architecting and implementing the critical network layer. You will contribute to all of the phases of a program, beginning with requirements and concept discussions with potential customers, followed by the generation of a formal proposal, resulting in a contract award in which you would complete the detailed design, implementation, and verification. Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience designing and implementing network solutions
  • 5+ years' experience operating and/or maintaining an operational network
  • Proven capabilities to conceptualize, design, implement, and test multi-faceted systems such as ground terminals, antenna telemetry systems, or similarly complex systems
  • Strong analytical background coupled with hands-on implementation experience
  • Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent certification
  • Strong understanding of protocols and best use practices including IPSEC, IPV6, and BGP protocols as well as L2/L3 VPN's.
  • Experience implementing security practices at a network level such as Risk Management Framework, DICAP, NIST-800-171, NIST-800-53.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix systems from a network perspective and an understanding of best practices.
  • Familiarity with network implementation in cloud services such as AWS
  • BSEE/BSCS or technical Bachelor's degree
  • US citizenship is required


Preferences

  • Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary teams composed of other engineering disciplines such as RF, computer, and antenna
  • Experience with proposal generation
  • Able to obtain a security clearance if needed
  • Strong verbal and writing skills
