The position is responsible for high-level network support and optimization for the corporate network. As part of the Information Systems Department, the Network Architect participates in the technical aspects of strategic decisions regarding network architecture and is responsible for network and telecommunications system solutions across the enterprise (all banks and businesses belonging to the holding Company).
Support the Company’s network infrastructure for both voice and data, including support and maintenance of the corporate local and wide area computer networks as well as private and public connections with vendors and customers.
Monitor circuit connectivity, troubleshoot and place service calls on failing/failed connections, communicate with affected customers on status and updates.
Participate in the resolution of support requests from end users:
Accept tickets assigned to network/telecommunications department.
Use available tools necessary to obtain a prompt resolution.
Update and closes tickets with data supporting the resolution.
Translate business requirements into network or process designs.
Plan and recommend network hardware, systems management software and architecture. Approve and modify network design and architecture to ensure compliance.
Oversee the installation and implementation of new network and telecommunications hardware and software products.
Configure and maintain routers, switches, and hubs for the network systems (including wireless and VoIP).
Work on multiple projects as a project leader or as a subject matter expert.
Work with other SMEs and technical support teams in the pursuit of technically excellent solutions.
Perform analysis of network performance and availability issues and design resolution scripts.
Evaluate and recommend new products, and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies for application to the Corporation.
Produce, endorse, and update network standards and guidelines.
Establish governing principles for network design and deployment.
Travel required to support entire corporate footprint (planned trips, as well as short notice emergencies).
Participate in the update of appropriate documentation related to hardware and software components, service and repair history, purchase order history, problem tracking history, circuit numbers, network addresses, network architecture diagrams, etc. as are necessary to ensure compliance with regulations, Company policies and standards.
Participate in the planning and testing of backup and disaster recovery plans.
Participate in an on-call schedule as assigned.
All other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor’s Degree (or an Associate’s Degree plus two (2) years’ of related experience).
Minimum of 4-6 years’ relevant work experience.
Knowledge of WAN technologies.
Experience with network security standards.
Knowledge of industry leading network hardware models including:
Experience with preparing detailed technical instructions manuals and/or documentation.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills.
Fluency in Cisco network hardware and software implementation preferred.
Advanced fluency in Cisco security hardware and software solutions preferred.
Advanced knowledge of protocols including BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, and EIGRP, SPB, TRILL preferred.
