Job Summary

As a Network Architect in the NetApp Cloud Data Service Business Unit (CDSBU) you work collaboratively as part of a team to define, design and document networkarchitectures and standards as required to support NetApp Cloud Storage services. You will work closely with cloud service providers to ensure NetApp Cloud Storage services network interoperability and compliance. You will work with NetApp storage engineers to define storage requirements as needed to support NetApp Cloud Storage services. You will work with CDBSU engineers to ensure service features function in compliance with performance and security requirements.



  • Owns the specifications of cloud network solution architectures needed to deliver Cloud Volumes and related storage services
  • Identifies the network systems/platforms required to achieve the end-to-end solution and capture them in documentation
  • Identifies the dependencies between network components of Cloud Service Provider (CSP) and NetApp storage, working with NetApp and CSP engineers and architects to ensure that services can be delivered to specification and on time
  • Defines configuration specifications for network components (switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls) as required for operation and security
  • Works with security architects to ensure networksecurity and compliance requirements are satisfied
  • Works closely with corporate IT
  • Works with Product Management to develop, define and validate new service features
  • Identifies opportunities to improve performance, reliability and profitability

Job Requirements

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate solution architectures and convey adherence to their design
  • Understanding of public cloud architectures - AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Able to demonstrate detailed understanding of public cloud network products and services (VPC, Direct Connect, Express Route, Elastic Load Balancing, Route 53)
  • Understanding of cloud automation and orchestration approaches and tools
  • Stays up to date with industry changes in network technology standards, cybersecurity, development standards, methods and emerging third party software in order to advise on technology and leverage industry best practice
  • Strong and wide knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies (routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls)
  • Strong and wide knowledge of network and routing protocols (TCP, BGP, DNS)
  • Able to demonstrate detailed understanding of integration architectures for network, information security and identity management approaches
  • Understanding of how network services are implemented on NetApp storage platforms (ONTAP, StorageGrid, etc.) and how they work with public cloud networkarchitectures
  • Understanding of network automation and software defined networking architectures
  • Experience developing and implementing public cloud connected storage networkarchitecture



Bachelor's or Master's Degree in technical or business discipline or related experience



Required Work Experience:


A minimum of 12 years of networkinfrastructure operations and engineering experience

A minimum of 5 years' experience defining networkarchitecture

Minimum 2 years-experience designing networking to support cloud solutions on AWS or Azure.
