Job Description

Carollo Engineers is a premier environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a National Safety Manager with demonstrated leadership experience in water infrastructure projects to join our team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Safety Leadership and Culture while building relationships with Carollo staff, clients and subcontractors
  • Continually improve and update the current Carollo Safety Program also known as the Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP). Train staff on internal and client specific safe work practices and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with worker's compensation claims and return to work programs
  • Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future
  • Subcontractor prequalification and subcontractor safety programs
  • Conduct internal Safety audits on jobsites and in regional offices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
  • Evaluate office work environment for ergonomics and provide feedback to employees
  • Establish an Organizational structure for all Office and Jobsite safety personnel
  • Provide and/or resource specialized safety training as needed to Staff, Clients and Subcontractors. Safety training will include but not limited to: General Safety, Health & Environments, PPE, Material Handling, Welding & Cutting, Electrical, Scaffolding, Fall Protection, Cranes, Motor Vehicles, Excavating, Concrete & Masonry Const., Steel Erection, Tunnels, Demolition, Blasting, Power Transmissions, Stairways and Ladders, OSHA 30/10 Construction, First Aid & CPR and Mining Safety Health Administration (MSHA) Part 48
  • Travel to offices and project sites throughout the US promoting a zero-injury culture and demonstrating visible safety leadership

  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and other applicable federal, state and local safety regulations and standards
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel


Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Safety related bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 15 years of experience with In-depth knowledge of federal, state, local and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certified
  • OSHA 500

Preferred Experience

  • Extensive experience with the development of safety programs specifically water related infrastructure projects along with mine, oil and gas projects
