MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES

Personal:

  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture and God’s purposes in the world
  • Be a lifelong learner who prizes the discipleship of the mind and stays current on issues related to Alumni, the academy and volunteerism

Lead National Alumni Relations Efforts:

  • Provide vision for effective, sustainable approach to maintain and cultivate healthy relationships and strong partnerships with InterVarsity alumni of all generations.
  • Develop effective strategies to implement and achieve key elements of alumni relations vision
  • Build, develop and manage National Alumni Relations Team made up of Regional Alumni Coordinators and other associates.
  • Collaborate with National Leaders, Department Leaders and Field Directors to plan, implement and promote alumni programs that support all elements of current strategic plan as they pertain to Alumni Relations
  • In collaboration with Field Ministries and other departments, contribute to the development of an effective program for the recruitment, training, placement and management of alumni volunteers for service across the organization
  • Work with National Alumni Relations Team to conceptualize, establish and develop a sustainable National Alumni Association that will serve to keep alumni connected to one-another and to the mission of InterVarsity across the country
  • Work with National Alumni Relations Team to develop strategies to continually enhance the participation of alumni in InterVarsity’s mission through giving, advocating, praying and serving
  • Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records. Develop and refine processes to capture contact, biographical and career information of alumni via surveys, projects (e.g. alumni directory), correspondence, website, postal returns, etc.
  • Collaborate with Development and Communications Departments to prepare for effective transition to Salesforce CRM that will maximize capture and preservation of alumni data from national, regional and locally existing records
  • Collaborate closely with Development colleagues in increasing support from alumni
  • Raise funds for select special projects and events in collaboration with Development colleagues

Supervision & Administration:

  • Communicate clearly, regularly and appropriately with Advancement team and all InterVarsity staff
  • Develop and manage budgets in accordance with InterVarsity policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all InterVarsity policies and procedures
  • Supervise all members of National Alumni Relations Team and others as need arises
  • Represent InterVarsity Alumni Relations to constituencies inside and outside of InterVarsity

Ministry Partnership Development:

  • Develop a support team for prayer and financial support through visits, phone calls, and regular prayer letters
  • Raise an agreed-upon amount of financial support

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Ability to formulate and cast a vision for larger organization
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the organization, alumni, other constituents and the public
  • Demonstrated ability to understand different stake holders’ requirements and desires in shared interest
  • Thorough knowledge of the purpose, vision, ministries and policies of InterVarsity.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in some element of InterVarsity’s ministry preferred
  • Demonstrated efforts developing partnerships with alumni within InterVarsity or externally with other associations or student communities
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, and delegation
  • Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve organizational goals
  • Demonstrably strong writing, planning and organizational skills
  • High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
  • Ability to synthesize and deliver complex information to diverse audiences both verbally and in writing
  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement. Abide by InterVarsity’s Code of Conduct.
  • Significant theological acuity and spiritual maturity
  • A working knowledge of current Microsoft software applications
  • Willingness to travel extensively if needed
