The Molding Staff Engineer is responsible for developing the manufacturing process technology strategy and innovation for molding growth worldwide, continuous improvement, building capabilities in other sites, and next generation molding operations.
This individual will develop and implement improved methods of manufacturing, procedures, and processes that result in improved safety, quality, delivery and cost.
This individual will lead the technology roadmap, process development efforts and process improvements at a multi-program level and at the task level. They will provide technical expertise to the worldwide operations. Plans, designs and coordinates the development and implementation of molding processes and related quality/engineering activities to support growth at multiple sites.
Develops and implements processes for pilot production and scale-up programs.
This individual will ensure the compliance with all local quality policies, procedures and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.ResponsibilitiesLeads the worldwide molding work stream for MPS. Supports, challenges and develops other molding engineers through training and best practices. Helps resolve molding related issues with the site teams by finding and fixing the root cause.Plan, implement and coordinate new process development activities related to molds and tooling, as well as changes to the existing molds if applicable. Includes assessing and determining needs; such as: shrinkage, draft angles, tolerances, material needs, etc.Shares learning across 21 molding sites in MPS through plant updates, external vendor technology, and innovation by sites, and builds capabilities in others.
Coordinate the development of new processes and/or new materials by interfacing with personnel from R&D, technology leaders, product design, product development, quality, production, manufacturing, assembly and packaging technology.
Specify equipment, tooling and fixtures for new processes, or existing process changes. Oversee projects worldwide to install or change mold related equipment.Manage the post-validation process with new tools by solving any issues that arise related to quality or cost of the molding tool. Coordinate and carry out qualification and validation activities across all 15 platforms in MPS for new products, processes, changes and transfers as required.Coordinate and communicate assigned projects and their status with the appropriate personnel and departments.Attends and contributes to change-to-win blitzes at all MPS sites to improve molding processes for safety, quality, delivery or cost.Write capital expenditure requests for equipment, tooling and fixtures, as needed.Able to assess a site’s molding program and work with the site to incrementally improve the sites molding processes, technology, maintenance and overall molding program.Represents when talking with suppliers. Defines agenda, carries out negotiations and is the technical voice for the company.Defines molding equipment requirements and specification for new products.Develop and implement processes for pilot production and scale-up programs.Supervise technicians or other engineers as required, to complete assigned projects. This entails influencing others that are not direct reports, or may include having direct reports.In own field of scientific/engineering competence, maintain up-to-date familiarity with developments through attendance at professional meetings, literature and consultations. New technology sensing in the industry.Comply with all local, state, federal, and safety regulations, policies, procedures.Comply with all local quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.Other duties as assigned.RequirementsBS Degree in plastics engineering, mechanicalengineering, manufacturing engineering or a related science field. Six (6) years of experience in various engineering fields relating to manufacturing, quality control, equipment design and process development.At least six (6) years working in a molding environment, design, qualification, validation and building molds.Additional and Preferred SkillsTraining in design of experiments and statistics is preferred.For additional details regarding submission eligibility and payment terms, please refer to your contract.
