Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to become a key member of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), and Modeling & Simulation (M&S) team. The qualified candidate will be responsible for designing and developing applications to support the Integration, Test and Verification of BMDS Model and Simulation products.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will work within a collaborative environment with software development teams, system integrators, analysts, network architect, cybersecurity personnel, and configuration management personnel.

  • The candidate will proactively resolve technical issues that could impact development schedules and overall performance of the Model and Simulation applications.

• The candidate will work in a collaborative role with the Customer to develop user interface (UI) applications, Test and Verification supporting applications and data analysis solutions.

  • The candidate will apply knowledge of software applications and software test methods to delineate and characterize system behavior.

  • The candidate will apply knowledge of software applications and software test methods identify and report Model and Simulation software developmental defects.

  • Adhere to the Software Development Lifecycle as defined by the Government.

  • Prepare and present reports, briefings, and white papers.

  • Participate in and conduct technical meetings and working groups.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus eight (8) or more years’ experience in a technical environment, or a Maters of Science degree plus four (4) or more years’ experience in a technical environment is required.Relevant work experience may be substituted for specific educational requirements.

  • Proficient in Java, C++ or a closely related language.

  • Proficient with shell scriptinglanguages: Bash, AWK, sed, Perl, Python.

  • Knowledge using SQL and/or other query tools to gather and interrogate data from large data repositories

  • Experienced in Linux Operating Systems.

  • Experienced in Configuration Management utilizing Subversion and CVS.

  • Experienced in Windows Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.

  • Experienced in BMDS Domain/concepts and strategies.

  • Familiar with VMware.

  • Familiar with virtualization technology (VMware, Docker).

  • Able to work contentedly and effectively with team members within the same organization, including other DOD contractors and government leads, as well as teams and individuals from outside organizations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Candidate will work as part of a multi-contractor/government team and must be able to complete tasks with little direct supervision. Position requires the candidate possess DoD Secret clearance or higher in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.

This position is located at Schriever AFB, CO. Some travel may be required.
