Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Systems: Analyze/Configure/Install/Maintain/Document complex infrastructure/middleware systems such as service bus, application servers, web servers, storage systems, database systems and network systems. Responsible for reporting and ensuring that Service Level Agreements for performance, availability, and recoverability are maintained.Application: Provide consulting services to Application Development regarding system tools and standards, including best practices in their usage; install third party software and custom applications as required by the business and quality assuranceSecurity: Maintain system upgrades and security patches according to WEX policy and system requirements; maintain Disaster Recovery documentation and perform Disaster Recovery drills as required by the Business Continuity Plans across the EnterpriseLeadership: Provide technical mentoring and light training for other engineers and application development. Provide exceptional technical internal and external customer service. Ability to work independently, as well as lead a team of business and technical peers.Research: Keep abreast of technologies in the marketplace that may be of benefit to the business; make proposals and lead proof-of-concepts; develop recommendations and present to managementSupport: Provide 7x24 support for assigned system components and provide backup support for other engineers, as neededVendors: Manage vendor relationships (e.g., Oracle, IBM, Dell/EMC, Cisco, SAP) Other assigned duties as required
Minimum Required Qualifications for ConsiderationDegree (Engineering or Computer Science a plus) with 2-4 years systems engineering experience.Demonstrated knowledge and experience administering Linux or Microsoft based application and web servers.In depth knowledge of infrastructure/middleware systems for which he/she is accountable; working knowledge of other system components and how they interact.Ability to program in an administrative language in order to automate manual processes.Working knowledge of Application and Web Servers preferred; WebLogic, Apache/Tomcat, Siebel, Peoplesoft experience a plus.Working knowledge of ITIL process and supporting procedures.
Preferred QualificationsBS/BA degree (Engineering or Computer Science a plus) with 2-4 years systems engineering experience; Masters' degree a plus.Experience with virtualization and virtualized environments preferred; exposure to VMWare a plus.Strong working knowledge of clustered servers, hardware and software load balancing. E.g. Oracle Cluster Ready Services.Experience managing ETL tools; Informatica Power Center.System Administration experience with Siebel, Peoplesoft, and Business Objects .Strong interpersonal and communications skills; capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customers or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management.Ability to solve problems quickly in order to get systems back online for customers; ability to perform root cause analysis and develop solutions to prevent problems from recurring.Exposure to configuration management tools and methodologies preferred; exposure to Service Now, BigFix, Flexera, Nimsoft.
