A startup hedge fund is seeking a Middle Office Analyst Developer . The successful candidate will join a high-performance ops team that is focused on supporting all operational aspects of a complex portfolio encompassing global sovereign debt, repo, futures, options and a large portion of OTC derivatives (rates, FX, equities and commodities). The middle office analyst / developer will work directly with senior operations personnel, fund administrator personnel, portfolio managers, quants, and otherdevelopers to implement the firm's technologyinfrastructure as it relates to operations. The individual will also learn various day to day operational tasks and assist as necessary. We are looking for someone with both very strong technical skills as well as a strong desire to help build a new firm from the ground up. The position will have a dual reporting line to both the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Operations. Additionally, the individual will interact with numerous counterparties and third-party service providers.
This is a hands-on development and operations position that will require the ability to learn new technologies and languages on the coding side and complex operational flow on the investment side. This person will need to adapt quickly and learn new APIs to implement and connect multiple software interfaces and firm technology. As a fundamental component of a small team this developer will need to be resourceful in developing novel solutions to loosely defined problems. The ideal candidate should be a dedicated technologist with a passion for adapting newly learned technologies to solve real problems. This individual will also have a strong desire to “roll up his or her sleeves” and perform certain tasks traditionally ascribed to an operations role. No financial products knowledge is necessary but the candidate must be willing to independently study to build capital markets expertise.
•Software engineering proficiency in a modern object-oriented language such as Java or C# as well as a scriptinglanguage such as Python
•Familiarity with SQL

•Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
•Willing to independently study to build financial markets expertise
•Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
•Be comfortable with operating in a fast-moving environment without firm or well-defined requirements
•Data analysis proficiency in Python, VBA, or R
•Background in Financial Systems (internships, etc.) software and understanding of Financial Products is a strong plus but not necessary
•BS or Masters in Computer Science
