Boeing Global Services (BGS) has several outstanding opportunities on the Strategy team as BGS grows to become the largest and most successful aerospace and defense services provider in the world. The Strategy team leads the development of the overarching BGS strategy and supports the creation of aligned strategies of the market facing businesses, Commercial, US Government, International Government and Business Aviation/General Aviation (BA/GA), as well as capability centers.

BGS Strategy team members develop independent assessments and lead cross-functional project teams focused on identifying the most important growth opportunities, as well as the required capability, capacity and competitiveness to ensure success in the marketplace. The successful candidate will understand the Enterprise and BGS strategic objectives, and lead across organizational boundaries to ensure strategic alignment and integration across Boeing. The ability to collaborate as part of a team as well as perform independently, to generate key strategic analysis, while applying critical thinking across complex problems, and to present and defend insights from the analysis to senior leaders within the business is critical to the success of the position.

The BGS Strategy team has three major functions: Market Analysis & Intelligence, Strategic Analysis and Integration and Market Development. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn more about the scope and opening specifics during the interview. Highlights below:

The BGS Market Analysis & Intelligence team is responsible for generating market forecasts and competitive insights as well as assessing key market drivers and influences of aviation after-market services. The successful candidate will conduct research leading to new business opportunities and anticipate potential risks related to BGS markets and help to set the agenda for strategy development and dialogue across the enterprise. He/she will engage with internal and external customers to understand market needs, customer concerns and industry trends. The successful candidate will ensure company awareness of and familiarity with industry trends, provides information regarding potential impact of industry, legislative or regulatory changes, and communicates findings to leadership in innovative ways.

The Strategic Analysis and Integration team is responsible for synthesizing market, competitive, and financial information as well as assessing key capabilities to develop and evaluate strategic alternatives (e.g. business model, organic investments, supply chain, competitiveness) across the enterprise. The team works closely with businesses and capability centers to develop strategic growth plans, and partners with other functions to ensure strategies and required investments are reflected in the business plan.

The Market Development team is responsible for supporting the development of strategic alternatives and options for developing capabilities and meeting market objectives. This includes strategic partnerships and inorganic investment alternatives to optimize return on investment and speed to market.

The ideal candidate:

  • Be a Self-starter with ability to work independently, develop new analytical frameworks, and provide guidance to others
  • Have the ability to work with large complex and often unrefined data sets
  • Must be an analytical thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Clear, effective and organized written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to defend strategic assumptions and analysis through critical reviews and debate
  • Experience presenting oral briefings of analytic findings to senior executive audiences
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, including the ability to create executive quality strategy presentations
  • Understands and uses a hypothesis driven approach to strategy development
  • Demonstrated ability to draw business-relevant insights that inform leadership decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-level strategic approaches, develop deliverables and execute processes
  • Develop solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with enterprise strategic objectives, which leverage insights from quantitative and qualitative data to explain implications on business environment and strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate and engage at all levels of the organization, including direct support of senior leaders
  • Extensive project leadership and management experience
  • Expert knowledge of the commercial, business, and general aviation markets; as well as Defense industries

Typical Education/Experience:

Technical bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An expert in advanced excel functions and experience in statistical software, PowerBI and Tableau
  • Experience in developing long-term strategies

  • In addition to technical degrees, educational background in Business (Finance, International, Marketing, and Operations Management), Economics, and/or Political Science considered desirable.
  • MBA or advanced business/finance, strategy, or international degrees preferred
  • Previous consulting experience
  • Previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry
  • Experience being a strategic business partner supporting a leadership team
  • Experience performing strategy work (e.g. market or competitive research and analysis, strategy development, and facilitating strategic decisions)
