Position Overview:

Job Description:

The Manager of IT Applications (Sourcing Systems) leads a team of technical and functional analysts responsible for the Sourcing Systems service, primarily the Bamboo Rose PLM application. This individual provides strategic direction, coaches and mentors staff and professional consultants assigned to support projects as the Bamboo Rose PLM platform continues to extend further into the brand segments and functions.

The individual in this position will exhibit the following key competencies:

  • Strong understanding of retail processes from product design through vendor manufacturing
  • Outstanding interpersonal, presentation and communications skills; able to articulate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences
  • Act as the “trusted advisor” and function as the key point of contact for business areas supported by Sourcing Systems
  • Assist in driving and promoting service management best practices in areas such as incident, problem, change and release management

Job Responsibilities:

40% – Responsible for solution delivery including providing oversight into requirements, direction and prioritization of system configuration/custom development, management of internal and external consultant resources assigned to deliver projects, develop and deliver reporting on status of project delivery to leadership.

35% – Partner with the IT Strategy & Business Alignment team as well as business leadership teams to define high level business cases for projects. Accurately estimate work/effort, duration and budget for upcoming projects. Define project objectives, scope, and work with team and external resources to estimate work effort, duration and project timelines.

15% – Manage resource allocation (estimated vs actual), facilitate weekly team meetings with IT team members in the US, as well as support teams in Asia and India. Act as mentor and coach to direct reports through use of performance and development goal setting in 1:1 conversations.

10% – Monitor and guide team towards meeting service level agreements through incident management, user communication, system/job recoveries, performance monitoring. Review and approve service and change requests/playbooks for accuracy, compliance and completeness.

Job Requirements, Education, and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field required; and strong 7+ years of experience. Demonstrated successful experience in relationship and project management, process reengineering, systems development, and IT service management. Additional requirements include:

  • Strong understanding of retail processes from product design through vendor manufacturing
  • Proficient in languages like Java, C++, C#, iLog, or JRules (preferably Java or iLog) or experience with packaged software configuration
  • Experience with SQL/Oracle, XML, packaged software, web servers, app servers (IBM Webshpere preferred), integration, and web services
  • Experience with ITIL Service Management best practices (Incident, Problem, Change Release)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred but not required)
  • Experience supporting large scale enterprise applications for retail
  • Experience in setting up monitoring/alerts
  • Ability to work in collaborative, cross functional, and multi-cultural teams
  • Proven knowledge of application development lifecycle and project management discipline
  • Experience in estimating resources and developing delivery plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibit high degree of flexibility & ability to multi-task and work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strategic thinking & ability to deliver against tactical goals
