Job Overview

The Manager of Public Affairs (PA) for Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) Phoenix plays a vital role in the company’s continued rapid growth. The Manager will work directly with the VP of Hospital Growth to develop a strategy to communicate the mission and vision of the hospital to both internal and external audiences. In addition, the strategy must educate the public about the differentiators within the hospital through earned and social media, internal communications, branded communications, speaking engagements, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and leadership relations. The ultimate objective is to build Phoenix’s reputation and increase the number of patients seeking CTCA for treatment.

The Manager of PA will work closely with the VP of Hospital Growth and the leaders of the enterprise-wide integrated communications effort and comprehensive national public relations strategy to launch the CTCA brand into the national and regional spotlight. The successful PA Manager will develop, create and distribute brand differentiating content that helps build awareness and credibility of the CTCA brand. A creative, service-minded professional, the PA manager will lead the development of the regional PA plan and partner in management of public relations partners in external markets in order to implement and execute the plan. The PA Manager will work with the corporate PA team to develop, implement and manage an enterprise-wide CSR and leadership relations initiative to improve CTCA’s reputation among key audiences.

The execution of the strategy and campaign locally will require building strong relationships with the facility’s clinical and administrative leadership. The PA Manager will be responsible for the development and management of content related to patient profiles, treatment expertise and other business-related information specific to Western. This information will be used in all aspects of internal and external communications nationally, regionally and locally. The PA Manager has significant leadership visibility at the highest levels of the organization (hospital administration, clinical, corporate) presenting strategic communications for technologies, disease-specific materials, new services and other relevant hospital information. The Manager is also accountable for building media and community relationships in the Western service area, including generating media coverage across the hospital’s key markets (13 states).

The PA Manager is accountable for:

  • CTCA reputation management, measurement and reporting
  • Assisting with budget management
  • Local media relations execution and contributing to regional and national earned media efforts
  • Regional Growth team support
  • Oversees the internal communications (role of internal communications) at the hospital
  • Building partnerships in the local community and executing contracts
  • Managing public relations partners’ execution of the Public Affairs strategy
  • Manage CSR program
  • Manage leadership relationships within the Phoenix market
  • Developing relationships with media contacts in the local community and key markets
  • Work closely with Public Affairs Specialist on content, branding and internal/external key messages

Job Qualifications

Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant public relations and communications experience

Minimum of a BS/BA in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English or a related field or equivalent experience

PRSA certification is a plus
