Position Description Merchandising Analysts provide a statistical and financial foundation for merchandising decisions and consult other departments on merchandising practices and tactics. They provide the data for the line review process and act as category management advisors. In addition to tracking promotions, contests, tests, and team objectives, they monitor team categories to ensure objectives are met.
o Solving problems through data analysis and reporting.
o Consulting with Category Managers on business decisions to provide a statistical and financial foundation.
o Analyzing proposed promotions and tests to determine feasibility and profitability.
o Maintaining accountability for the testing process which includes: initial approval, test site selection, measurement, rollout decision and exit strategy.
o Querying tables to extract data necessary to perform analysis. Position Requirements • A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in Business Administrations, Statistics, Engineering or comparable field.
• Three to five years’ experience Business Administrations, Statistics, Engineering, Programming business applications.
• Knowledge of and interest in activity based costing, category management, microeconomics, statistical process control, business process analysis, continuous improvement and business modeling using such techniques as linear regression, experiments, and time series forecasting. Programming skills and understanding of database structures.
• Graduate degree/MBA preferred. SAS programming using existing databases. Utilizing APT Test & Learn software to build tests that provide statistically significant results. Excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to work with and contribute to a team.
