Plan and manage all Medical Office Bracing & Supports activities in accordance with agreed budgets. A critical leadership position in the B&S organization, the leader of the Medical Office provides support through strategical planning and managing the execution of high-quality initiatives to support the B&S strategy. Leads and develops a high performing team. Entertains good cooperation with Global teams and has a good understanding of Össur’s business in terms of research, regulatory, product development, strategy and solutions.
In collaboration with the Academy, educate employees about clinical, medical and biomechanical aspects of our products and related diseases
Author position papers to provide context and guidance around challenging topics.
Organize educational events including a yearly international Össur medical congress
Provide expertise and information related to injury, physiology, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Oversee clinical and medical assessment of all bracing and supports development projects in both Reykjavík, Iceland and Foothill Ranch, CA
writing, reviewing, managing & approving protocols trials and IRB’s
Analysis of results including both interpretation and statistical
Develop ideas that initiate design projects based on unfulfilled medical needs
Compliance & Regulatory
Review and assess clinical claims for our products
Ensure compliance to international regulatory standards
Provide a strong focus on quality together with the local teams: product development, manufacturing, and suppliers.
Work integrally with R&D in development and execution of new products, representing the clinical evaluation function
Formulation of research strategy for bracing and supports
Organize and perform research
Initiate, fund and manage relationships with global research institutes to include contract and payment negotiation as well as negotiating the technical aspects of research
Publish research in peer-reviewed journals
Present research and lecture on products at national and international scientific congresses
Oversee research activities by other department members and interns
All employees must be aware, have knowledge and shall have received general training in Quality requirements of Össur. Training takes place in the Onboarding process and in New Employee Orientation. More specific Quality training is job specific.
All training related to the quality management system is done in accordance to the Training Management Process (QM1681).
Exercises good use of company funds and property within the set guidelines. Maintains an honest and professional attitude as the company’s representative at all times.
Contributes to a safe working environment by maintaining own workspace and reporting any potential hazards.
Degreed as a Medical Clinician
5+ years of experience in similar position
