Summary:
Directs the clinical delivery of medical care. Supervises the activities of physicians advanced practice providers and clinical staff in partnership with the Director of Urgent Care Operations.

Responsibilities:

Establishes and oversees standards of practice.

Implements clinical safety policies and practices.

Oversees the development of clinical content in company materials.

Works with the Director of Urgent Care Operations to ensure adequate staffing appropriate training and required resources to achieve accessibility goals and efficiency.

Supervises and directs all medical treatment activities and recommend changes to better utilize facilities services and staff.

Ensures staff are up to date on changes in the clinical employee and business practices and policies.

Monitors budget and coordinates clinical activities with operations billing and financial management.

Assures compliance with licensing certification and accrediting bodies.

Ensures compliance with clinical policies procedures and by laws including the proper usage of EMR billing and administrative systems.


Conducts clinical staff appraisals sets individual improvement goals and develops training plans together with the subordinates to achieve targeted goals.

Monitors level of care using statistical models and chart review and provides unsolicited medical judgment where appropriate.

Develops implements and revises policies procedures and protocols affecting medical practice judgment and quality of care.

Specifies medical supplies and pharmaceutical requirements for the clinics.

Develops clinical content for training of clinical staff including physicians nurse practitioners radiology technicians and medical assistants.

Oversees development of radiology and lab procedures. Assures compliance with COLA/CLIA and radiology requirements.

Serves as a spokesperson for urgent care and maintain relationships with primary care and tertiary providers in the community.

Other information:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Medical degree from accredited university.

Board certification in internal medicine family practice emergency medicine or another ABMS recognized specialty.

Valid license to practice medicine in the State of Rhode Island and board certification in area of specialty required.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with providers staff management patients and companies.

Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

Able to be objective in investigations and personnel issues and able to defuse confrontations.

Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Progressive thinking for budget training and quality issues.

EXPERIENCE:

Five years of medical experience post-residency required. Prior experience within an urgent care or emergency department setting preferred.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead the team to superior levels of service.

Understanding of medical coding and billing.

Knowledge of state and federal regulations including but not limited to OSHA and HIPAA.

Ability to supervise train and evaluate new and current provider staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Healthcare environment such as acute care hospital physicians? office and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Any hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Oversees advanced practice providers and clinical staff within urgent care.
