Summary: This position provides engineering project leadership and/or discipline support for various projects by researching, specifying, developing, designing, engineering, or testing components, equipment and/or systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of all Engineering Disciplines include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides concetual and detailed engineering of process equipment and piping systems.
Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Designs systems such as piping, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
Work includes P&ID development, equipment configuration and specification, material requisition preparation and development of engineering construction drawings.
Provides support to fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and client specificaions.
Designs systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Works with clients to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules.
Reviews and approves project drawings, standards and specifications.
Develops major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.
Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.
Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems.
Provides technical direction, support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters.

Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum five (5) years experience in Mechanical Engineering required.
Experience in Cold Regions, Control Systems, Fire Protection, Fire Suppression, Offshore Structures, Petroleum Industry, and/or Telecom infrastructure project experiencepreferred.
The individual must satisfactorily perform all essential duties, responsibilities and requirements listed earlier in both the General Requirements and Discipline Specific sections. In addition, the individual must develop project estimates; provide discipline support for projects; coordinate activities with other disciplines; monitor for compliance with client standards, state and national codes and regulations; develop major equipment material selections by finding innovative solutions to provide the best design at the lowest cost; develop major equipment and construction specifications; and direct and provide information to drafters and designers.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management and client.
Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs and theorems. Ability to apply mathematical operations to work projects.
Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in the most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook e-mail software; and any other discipline-specific design or analysis software, as required.
Licenses and Certificates:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution, Prefer a candidate that has obtained their Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) status.
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities, although the individual may be required to direct the work of others including drafters, designers and other engineers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to travel and work in a remote location overnight or longer, including the north slope of Alaska. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and adverse outdoor weather conditions. The employee is expected to abide by all required safety regulations, behaviors and conditions, as required at the local or remote work locations. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
