Essential job Functions and Accountabilities:       

  • Communicate with customers, third party project representatives, and other company departments to meet                   assigned project requirements and schedules.
  • Participate in R&D activities, including creating detailed design review documents, to bring DJ products enhanced value and capability.
  • Experience running FEA simulations using tools like ANSYS is required.
  • Participate in the build of prototype units and lead product transfer into manufacturing.
  • Design and develop manual and automated test fixtures, testing and calibration procedures, and conduct system tests for prototypes.
  • Provide product documentation revisions for various new and legacy products and complete Engineering Change Orders, including CAD models, drawings, bills of material, routings, as well as operating and work instructions.
  • Review, develop, and prepare project documentation following standard practices, and use of engineering tools as recommended by governing department.
  • Lead root cause analysis of new products that have failed in the field and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate assigned project work with technical and administrative personnel.
  • Able to coordinate a number of customer requests to ensure on time delivery of product.
  • Estimate product costs and work with purchasing to obtain required materials for engineering product builds.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites (domestic and international) for project meetings may be required.
  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.
  • Educational Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.E.) from an accredited four-year college or university.

    Five years of experience in sensors engineering or a related field.

    Other Qualifications:

    Knowledge Skills:

    Strong comprehension of stress and strain analysis

    3D modeling experience required (Inventor preferred)

    CAD, Finite Element Analysis required (ANSYS preferred)

    C# software coding capabilities for automation a plus

    Machining operations and material properties

    Injection molding experience a plus

    Ability to understand basic circuit schematics a plus

    Root cause analysis and corrective and preventative action

    Strong working knowledge of database, Internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software required

     Language Skills:

    Strong Communication skills required.

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, reports, and documents

    Ability to respond to common inquiries, or complaints, from customers and regulatory agencies

    Ability to effectively present information to customers, management, and co-workers

     Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations

    Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlations techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis

    Ability to perform engineering calculations using mathematical and software tools

     Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables
