Job Description:

Overview:

Candidate Responsibilities:

  • This is a design position for the Engine Installation and Cooling (EIC) and/or Hydraulics Integration team of the Mining Design Center (MDC).
  • This position covers a design scope which includes a high level of integration of various components and subsystem in the area of engine installation and cooling systems (e.g. radiator modules, air intake/exhaust, engine and aftertreatment mounting, fuel/oil/water lines, charge air lines, starting aid systems, front engine accessory drive systems, starter mounting, fan drive systems).
  • The type of component-level design in scope includes fabricated steel structures/weldments, castings, tube/hose design, non-metallic components and special function components (e.g. mufflers, air cleaners).
  • The engineering disciplines applicable include machine design, strength of materials, structural fatigue, noise/vibration/harshness (NVH), fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

Typical Day:

  • office work,working in a team environment to complete above tasks.

Primary Skills:

Technical Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in an accredited Engineering or Materials Science curriculum plus 3 or more years of experience in progressive engineering assignments to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturing concepts or a Masters degree in an Engineering or Materials Science curriculum plus 1 or more years of experience in progressive engineering assignments to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturing concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in collaborative environment and to communicate effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to work on complex assignments. - Proficiency with solid modeling software (ProE/CREO preferred)
  • Experience directing the work of supporting resources (e.g. solid modeling, detailing) to achieve design goals.
  • Executed all phases of at least one minor new product development program.
  • Prior Engine and cooling experience is desirable
