HDR is looking for a licensed mechanical engineer that has experience working on facilities within multiple industries including water and wastewater, federal facilities, transportation, and hydropower. HDR NorCal's multi-disciplinary facility design group (ASMEC) works on some of the largest projects in California and across the country. The candidate will be a proficient HVAC and plumbing system design engineer with experience designing to ASHRAE 90.1 and LEED requirements. The candidate will be a proficient writer, and have experience writing design narratives and supporting proposals. Working knowledge of REVIT is required and knowledge of AutoCAD is a requirement. Experience managing projects is a plus.


Primary Responsibilities


In the role of Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to:• Coordinate the work of the mechanical design team through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project

• Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance

• Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule

• Conduct work sessions at project sites in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines

• Review mechanical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines

• Write and edit mechanical specifications, and select equipment, mechanical systems and devices

• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents

• Provide construction contract administration as needed

• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as needed

• Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

• 5+ years experience in HVAC and plumbing system design

• PE

• Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software

• REVIT MEP experience preferred

• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm

• Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required

• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis
