Mechanical Engineers will be responsible for product development in both commercial and defense industries. Primary duties will be the mechanical design and the analyses to support design decisions, for programs of varying size and complexity. Development projects typically start at architecture definition based on product specifications, continue with prototype build & test, and conclude with transition to production. Responsibilities will include both ?paper? design and analysis work, and hands-on in-the-lab integration, testing, and troubleshooting. Mechancial Engineers are expected to work mostly independently, with some oversight from the senior engineering staff. They may also be required to participate in project effort estimation and schedule creation. Mid-Level engineers will participate in developing detailed design specifications based on overall product requirements.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline, and have at least three years of experience working as an engineer. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience on multi-disciplined product development projects, and who possess design experience in some or all of these areas:- Electro-mechanical moving-part design and motion controls- Opto-mechanical design and packaging- Expertise with (preferably) Pro/E and/or SolidWorks, GD&T- Familiarity with designing systems to military/aerospace specifications- Designing for low cost and/or high volume manufacturing DTC, DFM, DFADouble major or multi-disciplined experience (electricalengineering, materials science, computer science, physics, etc.) is a plus. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a small- company environment. Engineers in this position will be exposed to a variety of projects and technologies, and should be self-starting and comfortable working on multiple ongoing tasks.
