What you'll do

Job Summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer works in a cross-functional environment, creating new part designs for various static aerospace components, supporting and executing various design functions. They will also participate in improving existing designs in order to optimize them for manufacturing. The Mechanical Design Engineer works directly with design engineers, design integrators, production manufacturing personnel, purchasing, and quality function in a cross-functional environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Creating new part designs for static aerospace components.
  • Supporting and executing design functions within the engineering change processes
  • Investigating areas for design improvement
  • Incorporating new and existing technologies into hardware design
  • Executing design layouts, tolerance stacks, and any other design related calculations.
  • Support cross-functional teams with design support regarding activities and initiatives.
  • Support manufacturing plans for producing aerospace parts in milling, turning and assembly.
  • Support manufacturing goals according to product specification at lowest cost to the organization.
  • Recommend and introduce process improvements based on statistical analysis.
  • Support design for manufacturing discussions and propose changes to reduce cost and improve manufacturability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 5+ years of design experience
  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of machining methods and operations preferred
  • Understanding of team center, and other analysis methods preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of static component design preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of part drawings preferred.
  • Strong computer skills (MSWord, Excel)
  • Proficient computer skills Microsoft Office and NX Unigraphics preferred.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed or team environment.
  • Ability to manage projects to completion and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and teaming skills.
  • Strong time management and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
